What I built this week with Grok 4

A short field report on pairing Grok 4 with a faster shipping loop, what actually saved time, and where manual judgment still mattered most.

What I built this week with Grok 4

This week was about speed without losing taste.

I used Grok 4 as a sparring partner for rough architecture, UI direction, and edge-case enumeration, but the win was not "AI wrote everything." The real win was cutting the time between an idea and a credible first draft.

What worked

  • Prompting against one narrow problem at a time kept the output useful.
  • Asking for alternatives was more valuable than asking for a final answer.
  • Pairing generated ideas with a human pass on information hierarchy kept the result from feeling generic.

What still needed human hands

Anything related to tone, trust, or long-session readability still benefited from a human editor. That matters a lot for a brand site, where polish is not decoration. It is the product.

Tavern takeaway

AI moved the scaffolding faster, but the final layer still came from taste, restraint, and a willingness to throw away loud ideas that did not earn their place.
